In light of the population explosion, people are increasingly turning to spring water in urban, peri-urban, and rural areas because access to drinking water through public services is becoming more and more difficult. However, this water, often untreated or untested to determine its quality against WHO drinking water standards, frequently presents quality problems and can cause serious environmental damage to humans, animals, and plants that consume it. This study proposes a thorough physicochemical and bacteriological analysis to assess the quality of these untreated spring waters in the communes of Kabondo and Kisangani in the city of Kisangani, capital of Tshopo Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in order to better inform the population using this water. Therefore, in this study, we evaluated physicochemical parameters such as pH, temperature, conductivity, TDS, dissolved oxygen, suspended solids, silica, color, odor, chloride and turbidity, sulfate, phosphate, nitrate, nitrite, BOD5, and DC, while also assessing bacteriological parameters such as fecal coliforms, fecal streptococci, and Escherichia coli. We then correlated these different parameters by establishing a hierarchical classification based on pH.
